Don Haslam joined KORNFELD MACKOFF SILBER LLP in 1995 and brought to the
firm one of Vancouver's leading real estate practices.
After receiving a double first class Honour's BA degree from McGill University in 1970, Don
pursued post-graduate research for two years at the University of
Tokyo Graduate Faculty on a Mombusho Research Fellowship. He returned to McGill for his law degree and upon graduation then
joined Bull Housser & Tupper; eventually becoming the Senior Real
Estate Partner. Don subsequently helped to found Angus, McClellan,
Rubinstein and Haslam, which later merged with Smith Lyons to create
a national firm.
Don's commercial real estate practice is based on acquisitions and
dispositions of hotels and shopping centres; land assemblies; complex
subdivisions, construction and mezzanine financing; and shopping centre
expansions. With more than 25 years of experience in real estate law,
Don is frequently retained by other law firms as counsel to advise
on such issues as hotel stratified developments, anchor tenant leases,
breaches of lease, air space subdivisions and taxation of solicitor's
accounts in these areas.
Don has lectured for many years for the British Columbia legal community,
both in connection with the Law Society Bar Admission Course, the
American Law Institute - American Bar Association, Insight Seminars
and Continuing Legal Education in British Columbia.
