KMS Hosts International Alliance of Law Firms AGM |
Kornfeld Mackoff Silber LLP recently played host to the International Alliance of Law Firms Annual General Meeting, from May 27 – May 30, 2008. The Alliance AGM was attended by 62 delegates from member firms and observers, who came from around the globe to experience “Super, Natural British Columbia” and for the unique forum of discussion with their contemporaries provided by the AGM. The event was considered a great success by all involved. Delegates travelled from every corner of the world, including Canada, the USA, Australia, Denmark, Brazil, the Isle of Man, France, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Switzerland, Mexico, the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, Austria, China, Italy, Uruguay, Sweden, Spain, New Zealand, Germany, Chile, Malaysia, Panama, Argentina, Ecuador, and Israel.
A myriad of activities for delegates and guests kicked off with an introductory cocktail party for delegates and clients of KMS at the Transcontinental Restaurant in historic Gastown. Other events designed to enhance the delegates’ enjoyment of the city of Vancouver followed, including tours of Yaletown and Chinatown, an afternoon adventure on a Zodiac boat out of beautiful Horseshoe Bay, and a day trip to Whistler Mountain.
On Thursday, May 29, 2008, KMS hosted a luncheon featuring speaker John Furlong, president of VANOC. Mr. Furlong delivered a rousing and inspired speech on the dedication and perseverance of his committee to ensure the best Winter Games ever, when Vancouver hosts in 2010. His passionate oratory was extremely well received by the delegates, those who attended from KMS and their guests. The AGM concluded on Friday evening with a delightful dinner at Monk McQueen’s Restaurant, during which the AGM was lauded as a great success. After an enjoyable meal, the delegates parted ways with fond farewells.
